Caucasus·Heritage

About the Portal

A meeting place for cultures, histories and memories of the peoples of the Caucasus.

Mission

So that every person from the Caucasus today can read about other peoples and not forget their own.
The portal gathers knowledge about the peoples of the North and South Caucasus: history, language, adats, cuisine, clothing, dances, music, names and heroes.
We believe that knowledge of one's neighbour breeds respect, while memory of one's own gives strength and continuity of lineage.

What matters to us

Remembering one's own

Language, family histories and traditions connect generations. By preserving this memory, we preserve our connection with ourselves.

Knowing one's neighbour

Behind every name of a people are people, their own path and a living culture. Getting to know one another means seeing more than differences.

Protect what we share

Hospitality, respect for elders, dignity and love for the native land unite us without erasing our distinctiveness.

Careful with heritage. Honest with the reader.
